iPhone and iPad do not include a built-in “battery full” alert by default, but you can still set one up with Apple’s Shortcuts app or use a simpler workaround. This is useful if you want to unplug your device soon after it finishes charging and avoid leaving it on the charger longer than necessary.
Method 1: Create a Full Battery Automation in Shortcuts
The best option is to use a personal automation in Shortcuts. On supported iPhone and iPad models, you can make your device notify you when the battery reaches 100%, then choose whether it should speak, play a sound, or show a message.
- Open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap the Automation tab at the bottom.
- Tap the plus button, then choose Create Personal Automation.
- Scroll down and tap Battery Level.
- Set the slider to Equals 100%.
- Tap Next.
- Tap Add Action and search for the action you want, such as Show Notification, Speak Text, or Play Sound.
- Enter your message, such as “Battery is fully charged.”
- Tap Next, then turn off Ask Before Running if you want it to run automatically.
- Tap Done to save the automation.
Method 2: Use a Battery Level Notification as a Workaround
If you do not want to use a full Shortcuts automation, you can still create a similar reminder by triggering an alert at a lower battery level, such as 90% or 95%, depending on how close you want the warning to be.
- Open Shortcuts and go to Automation.
- Create a new personal automation.
- Choose Battery Level.
- Select Falls Below and move the slider to your preferred level, such as 95%.
- Add a notification, sound, or spoken alert action.
- Save the automation and disable Ask Before Running if available.
This is not a true 100% notification, but it can still be helpful if your goal is simply to remind you that charging is nearly complete. It may also work more reliably if you charge overnight or in situations where the battery reaches 100% quickly and you do not want to miss the alert.
What to Do If the Automation Does Not Run
- Make sure the automation is set to run when the battery level equals 100%, not only when it falls below a number.
- Check that the automation is enabled in Shortcuts and saved correctly.
- Confirm that Low Power Mode or Focus modes are not preventing you from noticing the alert.
- If you used Speak Text, make sure the device volume is turned up enough to hear it.
- On an iPad, verify that Shortcuts automation is available for your version of iPadOS.
Which Option Should You Use?
If you want a true full-charge alert, the Shortcuts battery automation is the most direct method. If you only need a reminder that charging is nearly done, a slightly lower battery threshold may be easier to notice and just as practical.
For most people, the best setup is a notification plus a sound. That gives you a visible reminder on screen and a better chance of noticing it even if you are not looking at the device.
