Netflix profiles let different people in the same household keep their own recommendations, watch history, and viewing preferences. If you want to set up a new profile for someone else or clean up an unused one, Netflix makes it fairly simple on both mobile and desktop.

The exact buttons can vary a little depending on whether you are using the Netflix app, a mobile browser, or a computer, but the process is the same in practice.

How to Create or Remove a Netflix Profile on Mobile and Desktop

What a Netflix Profile Does

Each profile keeps its own separate watch activity, My List, language settings, and maturity settings. That means deleting a profile removes that profile’s viewing history and recommendations, while the account itself stays active.

Key Fact A Netflix account can have multiple profiles, but the main account holder profile cannot be deleted in the same way as a regular profile.

How to Add a Netflix Profile on Desktop

  1. Open Netflix in a web browser and sign in to your account.
  2. Click your profile icon in the top-right corner.
  3. Select Manage Profiles or Edit Profiles.
  4. Choose Add Profile.
  5. Enter a profile name.
  6. If needed, check the Kids box to create a children’s profile.
  7. Select Save to finish.
Note If you do not see Manage Profiles, open the profile switcher first by clicking your profile icon. Netflix sometimes places the option there instead.

How to Add a Netflix Profile on Mobile

  1. Open the Netflix app and sign in.
  2. Tap My Netflix or your profile icon.
  3. Tap Manage Profiles.
  4. Select Add Profile.
  5. Type the profile name.
  6. Turn on the Kids option if this profile is for a child.
  7. Tap Save.
Quick Tip If you are using a mobile browser instead of the app, the profile options may look more like the desktop version.

How to Delete a Netflix Profile on Desktop

  1. Open Netflix in a browser and sign in.
  2. Click your profile icon.
  3. Select Manage Profiles or Edit Profiles.
  4. Choose the profile you want to remove.
  5. Click Delete Profile.
  6. Confirm the deletion when prompted.
Warning Deleting a profile removes its recommendations, viewing history, saved lists, and settings. This cannot normally be undone, so make sure you are deleting the correct profile.

How to Delete a Netflix Profile on Mobile

  1. Open the Netflix app and sign in.
  2. Tap My Netflix or your profile icon.
  3. Tap Manage Profiles.
  4. Select the profile you want to remove.
  5. Tap Delete Profile.
  6. Confirm the action when asked.
Note On some devices, Netflix may ask you to edit a profile first before showing the delete option. If that happens, look for a delete button inside the profile settings screen.

If You Cannot Delete a Profile

Why It Matters Profile management issues are often caused by being in the wrong profile or using an app version that hides account tools. Switching to the full account settings view usually makes the options easier to find.

Things to Remember Before You Delete a Profile

Best For Families, shared accounts, and anyone who wants separate recommendations or a clean slate for a new viewer.

When Creating a New Profile Makes More Sense Than Deleting One

If someone in the household no longer uses Netflix, deleting the profile is a good way to tidy up the account. But if the profile belongs to a child, a guest, or someone who may return later, creating a new profile or keeping the old one may be more practical than removing it right away.
